Before I quit – Part 1

1970 Before I quit Part 1This is a story of how drugs, particularly pot (Marijuana) came very close to ruining my life:

I was born to a good middle class family in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia in 1970. I was a one of 4 children and was raised modestly, but was loved and never abused. My parents were Christians and made sure that all of the children attended church every Sunday until age 16. Once you turned 16 years old and could drive, church became optional.
I know now that I had the potential and personality to become an addict from the beginning.  As a young boy I experimented with alcohol and tobacco.  I thought it was cool and felt it impressed my friends if I did so.   I took my first drink when I was in the 6th grade.  I believe that I was 11 years old.  I did not get drunk the first time, but did get a buzz.  I thought it was a lot of fun and wanted to do it again.  The next time I drank was in the 7th grade and got really drunk.  I was at a friend’s house and we got into his parents liquor cabinet.  I completely blacked out and was told the next day that I was out of control and he was surprised that I didn’t wake up his parents.  I also remember feeling very sick the next morning.  I mean really sick.
Well, the drinking continued off and on until my senior year in high school.  By then, I was known as the guy who liked to party.  Which at the time I thought was really cool.  I didn’t get into any trouble, but I definitely did plenty of things that I should not have been doing.  Before graduating from High School we had a night where “Silly Awards” were given out to the seniors.  I received the award “Most likely to buy a house next to a Miller Genuine Draft brewing plant”.  My senior year in high school consisted of going to parties every weekend and even on weekdays.  Honestly, I was very happy that year and still feel that it was the happiest part of my life.  Soon that would all start to change. Great post! Just wanted to let you know you have a new subscriber- me!

  2. ADMIN says:

Kris, It’s nice to meet you! I hope that my story can help you and others. It’s going to take me a while to finish writing it. Honestly, staying sober and recovery is a life-long process, so I’m not sure I will ever finish. :)

  3. >I thought it was cool and felt it impressed my friends if I did so.

That’s an awful reason to do anything.

  4. steveo9001 says:

So booze was your gateway drug ? :P

Lemme guess you started smoking marijuana and you started to question the way that you were living and took a more keep to yourself path ?! and your christian parrents were down your throat 24/7 about you smoking a herb and would rather you drink yourself to death ?

Should change the site to “say no to all mind altering substances” not just marijuana …. you make me sick … marijuana has never killed anyone and yet your trying to demonize it like our government did …. seriously do some research before you start the government propaganda all over again

  6. Nick says:

and how did this substance or should we call a gift from god ruin your life, give me a break with this site your all brain washed marijuana helps sick people everyday, there was no helping my insomnia until cannibis came around.

  7. Confucious says:

Right on Steve. I’m glad to see that there are people like you standing up for what is right even on these obscure websites.

  8. ADMIN says:

    Steve,

Your 24/7 friends and family posting in an earlier part of the blog confirmed that you have a problem. Why are your friends and family giving you such a hard time about smoking pot? Why would the people who care about you give you such a hard time???

As I continue to read through all of these postings I can see that not only are people in denial, but they are very angry. Finally someone has provided a place where all the practicing addicts can tell each other how terrible “The people who want to help us” really are.

This is the insanity of alcohol and drug addiction: You do the same thing over and over always expecting different results.

This time I will only smoke pot on the weekends instead of everyday. This time I will only smoke pot after work. This time I will only smoke pot every other day. This time I’m going to quit after I finish this bag.

It never works does it?? If you fall into this category there is a better life and it all starts by asking for help. AA (Alcoholics Anonymous). Find a meeting near you and hang out with some people that can help.

  9. Jimbo Jones says:

    Come to Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
And you will find that your lies will not affect our Cannabis Culture.
“This time I will only smoke pot on the weekends instead of everyday. This time I will only smoke pot after work. This time I will only smoke pot every other day. This time I’m going to quit after I finish this bag.” This time, that time, who cares.
People feel guilty about smoking marijuana because of your nonsense backed up by no information and personal experience that may be questionable and debatable, making other things your gateway.
I say, if you smoke marijuana and you wanna quit, ask God for help, then ask him, if it’s a bad thing to smoke pot (made from God) rather than drinking alcohol (made and processed by men).

  10. ADMIN says:

    Jimbo,

Most of the illegal drugs come from plants. Heroin, Cocaine, etc..

    http://www.opioids.com/poppy.html

Please do not use the plant logic.

You are on the right track about asking God for help. I agree that he is the one that can help and does help a lot of people stop who need to. Not everyone who smokes pot has a problem with it. I am trying to protect and help the ones that do. If it becomes legal it will make it worse for the addicts. I am an addict and will die trying to help other addicts.

  11. Thank you for creating this site! If sex, work, shopping, relationships, gambling and exercise can all facilitate addiction – surely a psychoactive herb that is smoked and thus introduced into the brain quicker than snorting or injecting because the substance is broken down first and the lungs are a vast sponge – is also addictive. The absurdity of marijuana prohibition forces the debate into a polarized caricature where drugs are romanticized or demonized. If someone is depressed should they use a drug like prozac to feel better? If so why not marijuana? (providing the dose is controlled in a similar manner to prozac) -
Assuming that everyone who claims to find pot beneficial are in denial is treating other people as though they were merely dream characters. Compare the pothead to his “premorbid condition”. Survivors of sexual/physical abuse and vital neglect manifesting serious psychopathology would be a good place to start.

  12. JM says:

It’s fascinating that the group that created this site thinks that it isn’t obviously manufactured. It’s as clearly fake as those little silver christmas trees.

The photo galleries labeled ‘beach’, ‘cute dog’. . . hilarious!

With luck, someone involved in the creation of this site will see the thousands of articulate posts from normal people and question the brainwashing they got about marijuana.

Anyone interested in the addictive potential of marijuana, vs alcohol or nicotine, can do a search at scholar.google.com.

  13. Daniel says:

I’ll be honest, there is very little evidence to back up physical addiction to marijuana. As an everyday user, I have gone without it without any side-effects, and usually not even a desire to use more. People who are “addicted” to marijuana, are probably suffering from some underlying disorder, ie. the fabled addictive personality, or possibly the inability to live in a real world state without the help of some drug or another. Hence why god is usually such a powerful force is “getting clean”, because it replaces one substance that releases endorphines, with another substance. So, your “addiction” as you have called it has not be broken, only replaced. You shall start the cycle over, and will probably infect your children with it.

  14. kent says:

my names Kent Robinson. iv been smoking bomb weed pretty much everyday for like 4 years and im here to say its not addicting. i would always get good grades in school and i keep a steady job. iv had to stop for a month or two here and there and i dont feel bad or anything in the slightest. one thing i did notice was having some strange dreams at night but who cares. all im trying to say is that i believe that we should have the right to smoke herb and whoever made this site is only trying to infringe on my right. soo in conclusion this site is a big crock and anyone who has half a brain can see that. im gonna go smoke some kush

  15. Thomas Paine says:

My dear boy. You’ve completely led yourself astray, and from your writing, it’s quite clear to me that you have a ways to go in the maturation department. You’ve allowed those around you to fog up the true problems in your life; Nothing about your story even shines a negative light on marijuana usage, except for some bassackwards suggestions that people who shouldn’t give suggestions have surely provided you with.
You were likely targeted or spotlighted due to the fact that you match up with this nation’s largest smoking demographic (and the parents of that demographic). This is simply a tragic sob story of a child who was never allowed to mature responsibly, drank heavily through his youth, likely developed underlying depression (or would be susceptible to it due to his background), and got busted for smoking by his parents. Cry me a river. The fact that your parents still hold the authority to “bust” you is proof enough that your problem lies in your immaturity, not your current rebellion of choice.
Here’s an abridged version of my story for you steven.
My family life was strikingly similar to yours, but I involved myself in the school (football, track, and to the my folks’ chagrin-theatre and choir) enough to stimulate myself outside of my oppressive family life. For this reason, when i discovered pot (which to this day I still smoke at least weekly) I didn’t cling to it like a suckling babe, but rather integrated this fantastic plant into my common-day life, like coffee or asprin.
Of course it was only a matter of time before my supersleuth mother found a small pipe in a sunglasses case in a stitched-in pocket of my backpack… but instead of being sent to rehab (and why, pray tell, did you take a half ounce of weed to a doctor’s office?), I sat down with my parents from 8:30 until noon and worked them away from sobbing that their son was a doomed drugfiend and that they’d lost him forever, to understanding that the source of their fear in marijuana, an irrational paranoia that’s as young as my grandmother, was set about by yellow journalism and racist agendas in the early 1900s. When I painted the picture of how it contributes to my life and of the various countermeasures I was taking to ensure my safety from Johnny Law, they had no option but to step down, embarrassed that they’d come into the discussion so poorly equipped (having only the fear instilled in them by their daily idol worship of the Evening News)
I hope for you, Steven, to survive this embarrassing charade of marijuana rehabilitation and to mature enough in the process that you can defend your decisions like an adult instead of hiding behind the scapegoat of “marijuana addiction”.
I’ve known World of Warcraft addicts that are far worse off than you, my friend.

And with that, I bid you farewell. You’ve just had a taste of
    “Common Sense”

  16. The Mayor says:

Good for you for taking control of your life.
It’s too bad that you blame a plant for your problems.
Herb is neutral, it’s the idiot losers that enjoy it, then abuse it and finally
    blame it for their failures.
Your failure is your own, and pot is secondary to this story, you could have
substituted anything- you are an addict and cannot control yourself, so you
need something to blame so you can go through life as a self-righteous prick
that needs justification. It’s ok man, it’s only a plant. It is harmless. It is people
like you without self control and a giant guilt complex that makes this issue difficult. It isn’t complicated- it’s dogma and guilt that has made this tough for you. Perhaps you should look more closely at yourself, your lack of self realization and control, and how ridiculous you sound blaming a plant for your failures in life. It’s your life, your failure. Stop proseletyzing to responsible adults that make this choice for themselves- you are not better because you’re sober, in fact, you seem pretty uptight and annoying. Your choice is yours, YAY for you, now stay out of my business!

  17. Marijuana says:

Hi, Marijuana here. I came in from the nice sunlight because I heard about your absurd website. You, the publisher, stated that before you ever used me you knew that you had an addictive personality. So if you knew you were a weak, feeble minded individual why would you bother with me anyway? You see I am not meant for ignorant people I exist to improve many peoples lives in many different ways.

Please do not say that I ruined your life, once again as you stated previously you used Tobacco and Alcohol long before you ever smoked me, so why is it that I ruined your life? Could it not have been the Alcohol that ruined your life? Don’t leave that on me, Mary Jane.

Did you know that in over 10,000 years of people enjoying me there has never been a single death? Did you know asprin kills 4000 people every year? Hell you have a better shot of dying from that bottle of Mountain Dew you drank today than from smoking me. DId you also know that I prevent many types of cancer, I am good for the brain actually increasing the amount of Neuro pathways and I eventually lead to new brain cells being developed? I also help prevent Alzheimer’s Disease and I also work as a pain, stress and anxiety reducer as well as stimulating appetite in Cancer and HIV patiens? I work wonders for joints, muscles and I am even good for your eyes.

Some of you humans have such silly misunderstandings about me. Like did you hear the one about how I kill brain cells? Well that was debunked by several medical studies. Did you also know that I do not cause lung cancer like Tobacco? Nor am I a gateway drug. There is now studies to show that there is no substance in Marijuana that causes physical withdrawl symptoms. Did you also know that I am one of the safest things you can put into your body? It is impossible for your to overdose on me. In fact, the average human would have to smoke or eat 1500 LBS of me in less than an hour in order for me to be fatal? Well there is no way you could eat that much- nor could you smoke that much. Besides even if you COULD, you would get too sleepy and passout before any harm could be done.

So I ask you the author of this webpage, and everyone reading it to do some real hard research on me, before you demorilize me forever. Don’t trust what random people say, find out for yourself.

    Sincerely,
    Cannabis Sativa

  18. Marijuana says:

    Hey Marijuana here again,

Just dropping by to add some more facts. Did you know that Thomas Jefferson, Benjamen Franklin, and George Washington all grew and smoked me? In fact up until the 1930’s I was sold in liquid and pill forms at every Pharmacy in this great country.

Did you also know that I was outlawed in the 1930’s due to racism and ignorance? Harry J. Anslinger had a lot to do with that. Look him up, he was the first Drug Czar of the U.S. of A.

    Sincerely,
    Cannabis Indica

  19. ADMIN says:

Hey, did you know that Heroin was also legal? In the fact, The Bayer Company started producing it to help people. The first clinical results were absolutely amazing. Of course we all know how nice that turned out. It seems these “Medical Marijuana” doctors have not been prescribing the drug for very long. I wonder how things are going to turn out?

Here is a good link for you guys to visit:

    http://www.justthinktwice.com/stumbleweed/just_a_plant_01.htm

Oh, I also know that my website has been targeted by Pro-Marijuana sites. There are a lot of people who see things in a different light and I have a feeling they might start visiting this website. I’ve also been reading some really funny postings from some of you guys. There was a kid that said his grades had improved after he started smoking pot. That is really amazing, because me and my friends were delivering pizzas during our pot smoking days. I can’t believe that we weren’t Doctors or Lawyers. I guess the more you smoke the smarter you get??

  20. Marijuana says:

Yes Heroin was legal at one time in this country-and it still is for medical purposes. As it stand Heroin or Diacetylmorphine is still used today, in a more synthesized form known as Morphine. for pain relief.

I hate to burst your bubble but I refuse to even read anything posted in your link:http://www.justthinktwice.com/stumbleweed/just_a_plant_01.htm, as no sources have been cited I would like to know where that information came from.

Cannabis may not make you smarter, but it will not dumb you down either. And California has been prescribing Marijuana for medical purposes since 1996, that is 13 years, nothing bad yet. Besides have you ever heard of someone OD’ing on Marijuana? No. over 10,000 years of use and the only way to be harmed by Marijuana is due to laws.

Another good fact for you, did you know the United States government in the 1980’s(don’t quote me on the year) started a Federal Medical Marijuana program. (copy past YouTube link to learn more about this from Irv Rosenfeld one of only 5 FMMJ patients still alive)

And I cannot attest to the fact that smoking will improve your grades because I did not begin using Cannabis until I was out of school, but I can tell you it has saved my life. To all those who say it makes you lazy, I respectfully disagree. I am much more active now that I smoke Marijuana. There is nothing better than getting on my bike and riding through the woods, or walking with friends while smoking a blunt through the forest. Or getting high and playing basketball. If it weren’t for Marijuana I would be 40 pounds heavier, have many less friends, be depressed, and much less creative.

And please if you post more links let them be from reputable sorces. Not some website talking about all the dangers of Cannabis, that doesn’t contain a single shread of evidence, or for that matter cite any sources.

PS here is a list of some of the worlds most sucessful potheads:

    Seth Rogan
    Rick Steves
    Aaron Sorkin
    George Washington
    Ted Turner
    Woody Harelson,
    Montel Williams
    Stephen King
    ..And yes even Bill Gates

  21. Dru says:

The problem with all that information on Stumble Weed, is its all subjective. Yes there are people out there who ingest multiple illicit drugs, and they probably use marijuana too, But that is no reason to blame the plant. Blame stupid people for hurting its reputation. Stupid people will continue to be stupid, and they are most likely to abuse multiple drugs and admit it. There is where all of your stats come from. The stupid people. Marijuana is no more a gateway substance than Pepsi products. I bet i can safely say… 90 percent of people who smoke meth first drank a Pepsi sometime in their life. Wow.. i should work for these people making stats up.

  22. NEO says:

ADMIN – I guess the more you smoke the smarter you get??

Finally, you’re making some sense! how does it feel to be hated on your own damn website?

  23. Matt says:

“There was a kid that said his grades had improved after he started smoking pot. That is really amazing, because me and my friends were delivering pizzas during our pot smoking days. I can’t believe that we weren’t Doctors or Lawyers. I guess the more you smoke the smarter you get??”-Admin

That’s because you and your friends are dumb.

  24. Dear Admin, please do some history checking. Cannabis, (that’s the proper taxonomic name for “marijuana” by the way) has been prescribed as a medicine throughout history. In fact, the US Pharmacopeia continued to list cannabis until 1941. Parke Davis were one of the major American pharmaceutical companies selling cannabis extract in tincture form. Queen Victoria even used it back in the 19th century. Up until the newly created Bureau of Narcotics created their hysteria in the mid-thirties it was still seen as a very useful medicine. (Even though technically it’s not a narcotic, but what does that matter when you’re the government?)
People are finally coming back around to viewing it as the useful herb that it is. What are you going to trust, some brand new drug that was made in a laboratory less than 50 years ago, or a plant that’s grown on this earth longer than we’ve even been here? Anything can be used or abused. Intelligence and intent is a deciding factor in whether a substance shall be used or abused.
All of this information is readily obtainable on the net and elsewhere. Hopefully I’ve strung my sentences together well enough. Read a book sir, do some research lest you appear a numbnut in your ignorance.

  25. nick says:

watch the union and maybe youll see it in a different light like the rest of the people who support cannibis legalization

  26. Jack Herrer says:

Wow, that story was absolutely heinous. All it showed me was that your weak minded and unable to control yourself on even the most benign substance, cannabis. It’s like my good friend Joe Rogan says about cannabis, “Pot doesn’t make you stupid! Stupid people are always going to be stupid! It’s like if you give a jet engine superfuel, that jet engine is going to take that superfuel and perform better. You give that same super fuel to a little consumer owned airplane, that airplane is still going to be a crappy little airplane.” Pot doesn’t make people stupid, stupid people are always stupid, and your one of them. I’m going to go smoke a joint.

    GREAT WEBSITE ADMIN!!!!!

Extremely well documented… Almost as good as this one…(note sarcasm) I checked who copyrighted that website and what do you know? Who funds that website? The DEA. Now, why would the DEA want cannabis to be thought of as bad for you? I’m not sure. Maybe because most of their jobs depend on cannabis being illegal? Naa, couldn’t be that. Well, I guess I’ll just forget everything I just said as I hit my vaporizer because that’s what cannabis does…

Ignorance is a disease. Stop the spread of it.

  28. John says:

    So, um, smoke weed everyday?

  29. DaMon says:

Weak, stupid people are the only illness I see here you are all. A lack of self control and discipline is your problem.

Yes, alot of drugs come from plants. So do most of our food sources. It not a valid point in grouping pot with REAL drugs.

Jack Herrer said it best… Stupid people are stupid

Don’t blame your short coming on pot. Loser.

  30. joke says:

    This site is a joke!!!

    Addicted to pot…

    Loser…

There are real drugs out there, pot isn’t one of them.

You don’t see people on the streets (IN REAL LIFE) doing what they will do for real drugs and alcohol, for some pot.

    Get real…

  31. Shaqualla says:

    The alcohol was the problem.
There are warnings all over for the side effects of alcohol.
Alcohol kills, of course. You become incapable of doing many things.
When does someone smoke pot, black out and go “out of control”?
Unless it were laced with a HARMFUL drug. (Crack, Heroin, LSD, etc.)
I smoke pot all of the time and I have never done anything out of control.
The only reason it is illegal is because of the many uses hemp can bring.
Including the hemp oil that was supposed to be used for cars before gasoline.
Why would there be medical marijuana if it weren’t helpful?
Taking something away from people who need it is wrong. You wouldn’t rip an IV of medicine out of a man with cancer’s arm, so don’t snatch the joint from the grandmother’s hand with multiple sclerosis.
It’s also a mood enhancer, so for the people who are feeling low…can be feeling high.
I’ve seen people say that pot smokers are “angry” because they like to voice their opinions.
This website is for “Pot Addicts” who are voicing their opinions, so why is it so wrong for a few marijuana lovers to voice ours?
I’m not forcing anyone to smoke weed; more for me, but everyone should be a little more open minded before they go totally against it.
When you are in a room full of people in a grumpy/awkward/silent mood where you can see the boredom and discontent on the faces of the people- a blunt is lit up…Everyone starts smoking and little by little their moods have changed from not discontent, but to happy and joyful just BEING around other people. Laughing; laughter is the best medicine, right?
I really don’t care if marijuana is ever legal, or if other people look down on tokers, because I will always smoke it, no matter what.
Also, there are a lot of marijana smokers out there who agree and believe that websites like these are a bunch of malarkey and is brainwashing our youth into believing that marijuana will cause you to do absurd and abnormal things and will eventually kill you.
    Those above the influence commercials?
People are more alert when they are high and sometimes even get into really good moods where they spend a long period of time focused on a project such as painting, cleaning, cooking, fishing and just enjoying themselves.
If you were in a car at a fast food drive-thru, you wouldn’t be oblivious to all reality like a little girl 100 yards ahead.. WHILE YOU ARE PARKED, roll out and hit her.
If you wore glasses and didn’t have them on, perhaps, but that is a medical condition.
Stuff like that is false advertisement and shouldn’t be aired.
They’re trying to scare people into thinking that being high is like being trapped behind bullet proof glass, and on the other side the world is a holy place where marijuana is illegal and alcohol (which destroys your liver) is legal and it’s fine to drink publically at a bar where people get wild and drunk, which can cause harm to others seeing as how there are many reports of abusive alcoholics.
Alcohol, Cigarettes, Crack, Heroin, LSD, Cocaine, Meth, etc. cause thousands of deaths and medical conditions yearly.
Marijuana has never killed anyone, so why do people criticize the one herb that has brought joy to humanity? Why not be happy when the economy is struggling?
Years ago in the middle east people would lie around smoking opium, and that was fine. Opium can kill you also.
You can be addicted to marijuana, but that goes for anything, do you see the people from the early morning show being checked into rehab because they drink 6 cups of caffiene every day? That is an addiction as well.
The same goes for toothpaste, you’re using the same kind daily, weekly, monthly. What harm comes from toothpaste? Flouride.
Sorry for the rambling, I just feel we should all get along and stop downing an herbal medicine.
It’s not like marijuana causes you to get sores and bruises and liverspots.
Read a few books, smoke a few joints and you’ll see things in a whole new way. The only reason this website is here is probably because of the many people who are against it enjoy funding,

  32. Long live the precious strain of marijuana. One day civilization will reap the rewards of this life saving herb. STAY UP my friends, STAY UP.

  33. For the article writer: Call a spade a spade. You ****** up, and you need something to blame it on.

Your story carries weight with some non-thinkers on this thread because they see you in themselves— you party animal you. Not a dork, huh?

Now never will I tell a man pot is good for him, but never either will I tell a man what he can eat, drink or smoke. So long as he doesn’t break any REAL laws—you know, torts where someone else is actually harmed—then what the hell good is freedom if one is not even free to eat Oreo cookies, or grow some pot with his peppers, and smoke the pot and eat the peppers? Free to abide by someone else’s inhibitions, or fears?

You are furthermore using bad reasoning, namely thinking yourself now, through your travails, enlightened, when really you are, let’s hope, still growing and learning about real truth.

The voices are clear. Anti-marijuana fanatics have been exposed here, as they are exposed everywhere those who know the truth about the herb are not censored out. It is the anti-drug clinics, the very rhetoric it uses, and stigmas it propagates, that are what we need to slowly wean ourselves off of. Because everyone knows, the claws of the ignorant have dug deep into the mind of man, making him fearful of his neighbor, by virtue of the worst scapegoat-loving insane pursuit of heretics since the witch trials and McCarthy.

Say No to Ignorance, you poor sleeping souls, say no to ignorance. Open your mind and stop parroting the bullshit you have been fed by those who know what you like to eat.

  34. nolan says:

ok, you gave us this site

    http://www.opioids.com/poppy.html

and u said most hard drugs are formed from plants. Yes its true, they are, so is alcohol, so is tobacco. My point is, and i believe jimbo was getting at the same point, marijuana, tobacco, opium, shrooms, coca, all these drugs are a natural substance. Are they good for us? prolly not, but that does not make them bad things. Many ancient, and may i add, prosperous cultures used these natural drugs. Heroine, Morphine, Codeine, alcohol, all a natural substance gave to us by the earth, then man raped them and made them 30times as addictive, and 100times as lethal. Now you say you were addicted to pot, but there have been COUNTLESS studies that say other wise. Now there are people who have chemical dependencies in there blood, but THC is a no addictive chemical, it washes out and leaves no craving to the body. You see the effect of human tampering in cocaine. In the mountainous regions of Asia, people smoke and chew on the coca plant. The derivative of cocaine, And they live to ripe old ages! In my opinion, the government should not be able to tell me what plants my stupid ass decides to go out and smoke and eat! Now i am about to start rambling, but i have one more. Think of it this way, what was the reason most people start doing drugs and drinking in the very beginning? Because we thought it was cool right? So make it legal and people wont touch it. they will just be like “oh shit, I just got some pot from the gas station” and the other guys will be like “dude, that is lame, why are you so uncool? do something cool you jerk!” And he will run home crying and he will just throw it away. End of story. Everybody is as boring and uncool as you!

  35. nolan says:

im sorry I have one more, Shaqualla, will you marry me?

  36. Insomnolence says:

Shaqualla, I will respectfully disagree with you, you mentioned that LSD is a ‘harmful’ drug, in the same league as Meth & Cocaine, however, numerous studies have concluded that LSD is not physically harmful whatsoever. I will say, that LSD has the potential to be mentally harmful, if used by someone with a bad mindset in a bad setting, or by someone with an unstable psyche or underlying mental condition – but these people shouldn’t be taking a drug as unpredictable as LSD. LSD also has the potential to be incredible beneficial as well, if used correctly. And that’s the major problem here: a lot of people don’t realize that psychedelics and psychoactive plants (like Cannabis) are tools, not toys. Tools require the skill and preparation of the user to be effective – a lot of morally weak people (like the creator of this site) cannot grasp that it is them as a person that is the problem, not a herb that is otherwise inanimate until used by humans in a specific way.

Get off your propaganda-powered moral high horse and wise up my friend (the creator of this poorly constructed and cited website I’m speaking of now) and take a look what’s going on in the real world.

  37. Marijuana DID NOT MAKE you go on to other drugs and become an addict. YOU made that decision. That’s like saying the gun MADE YOU kill someone. Um, sorry, but YOU picked up the gun and YOU pulled the trigger. If that were the case, I should be a heroin addict or something after smoking pot for twenty years. But no, I haven’t gone on to harder drugs to satisfy my want for a buzz. I rarely drink alcohol because of the side effects, i.e., hang-over, horizontal for a day, etc., I use pot for medical purposes, and also use it just like any other American or person around the world like I would a drink after work. If pot is so bad, how the hell do I take care of all my animals?(two cats, three scorpions, one frog, fish, spiders, etc.) And how the hell did I serve and protect this country while I was in the military if marijuana is so dangerous? Thank you to the posters’ that defend the harmless effects of marijuana. People die EVERY DAY from overdoses of alcohol, over-the-counter meds, prescription meds, tobacco use, car/vehicle accidents, but NOT ONE DEATH IN RECORDED HUMAN HISTORY!!! And no, Bob Marley DID NOT die of cancer from smoking too much weed, he died because of a malignant cancer that formed from a foot injury and he refused to have surgery due to his religious beliefs, so you can’t use that argument…..
Please get off of the propaganda machine and open your eyes to the reality of the state of our society as a whole. Don’t just listen to other people, do the research for yourself, I did. WOW!!! What an eye opener…

  38. Shaqualla,

I also respectfully disagree with you. Heroin causes constipation and nausea. It is prohibition that causes the harm with heroin. And don’t talk about ODs because if you do a little bit of study you will find it isn’t heroin that kills you it is when it is used in conjunction with alcohol and/or benzodiazepenes which are both legal money makers for both industry and the government.
And before anyone tries to shoot me down with the propaganda that they have been taught since they first opened their eyes please include just ONE credible peer reviewed article that says otherwise (DEA publications or DEA funded studies do not count)

Ok Admin you are way to uneducated to be arguing against marijuana. First off you talk about lots of other drugs coming from plants, which is 100 percent true and you almost have an argument, but you don’t. You see Cocaine comes from the Coca plant. Now follow me here, when the Coca plant grows does it naturally form a powder or rock that you can snort or smoke? NO! You can chew the leaves which people have done for thousands of years (which is the only way that plant should be used). Heroin you also have to do a lot with before you use it as a drug. It’s from the poppy plant, but when it grows it isn’t readily available to be injected into your system… but we do make pills out of opiates which are basically over the counter heroine which doctors still prescribe! So now that most your points have been thrown out the window lets take a look at how the marijuana plant grows. You take a seed, much like any other seed, and you plant it in the ground, you can grow it in almost all areas, now once the seed germinates it takes a few days for it to sprout from the ground, and it will eventually grow and mature completely. Now most drugs that come from plants you got a lot more work ahead of you before you have your “drug”, look on youtube how to make cocaine to see the difference. Instead with Marijuana you just cut the buds straight from the plant, thats all. No chemicals needed, it is just naturally that way. Now you can take these buds and either smoke them, cook them, or vaporize them. If you don’t mind doing a little bit of damage to your lungs (which is minimal, and it’s up to the person to do with there body what they want), then smoking is fine, but you can also cook it into foods or make it into a butter which will have 0 health side effects, or you can vaporize it which still have 0 to very small amount of health side effects.

Did you know the biggest drug problem we have in America is prescription drugs? Who would of thought. How many people have died from using marijuana? None. It’s funny you put up a website spreading propaganda and lies, yet you cant even win an argument for the life of you on the comment boards.

On the Third Day of Creation
    God said:
‘Let the earth bring forth THE GREEN HERB,
    and such as may seed,
and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind,
which may have seed in itself upon the earth.
    And it was so done.’
    Genesis 1:11

And I just read your comment attacking the marijuana users who claim there grades went up. So because you were a dumb*** as a kid, and apparently still seem to be lets take a look here. I know many successful people who enjoy smoking marijuan (closet smokers). There are so many marijuana users 3/4th of them you would never know they smoke. I happen to know doctors, nurses, people who have successful businesses, etc etc who use. I also know many people who went on to get very successful jobs, but were forced to quit smoking due to random drug testing, but guess what up until that pot, all the time they spent in school they were smoking pot. I stated in a post before that I had to quit smoking pot before it was pretty easy tbh, nothing like someone who goes through quitting cigs has to go through (or even soda rofl). I now use it for medical purposes, you heard of chrons disease? I spent the past 7 years in and out of hospitals, have had so many surgeries I cant even count them on my hands, I am in pain every day and every minute of my life right now, have a total of 5 open wounds that are healing, but slowly due to chrons. I was homebound before I started smoking pot to help relieve the pain. I was unable to make it to school due to the illness and amount of pain, so I had to do that on my own… had to self teach my self everything and I managed to graduate highschool all on my own, while smoking pot. I guarantee if you lived one day in my life you would be crying for a hit of weed, cause guess what my options are? I either take a bunch of prescription pain killers (opiates), currently am on oxycontin (prescribed), and my options are taking that and basically knockin myself out into a snooze and being a zombie the rest of the day, or I can smoke some pot, and take less of the painpills and get out and live as much of a normal life as I can. God forbid I ask for a better quality of life? But why should people like you know anything about that? Go on and spread your lies and look like the uneducated fool you are.

Marijuana is not addictive at all! all you need is a little willpower, and if you cant quit smoking weed by your self then you really do have a problem.

  42. John says:

Hey, I’d just like to say that I have tried marijuana occasionally. The most I ever did was three times in a week.

But, I can say that, at least for me, it was not addictive at all. I will still smoke a little with friends of mine every month or 2, but I honestly don’t think it to be a big deal.

Marijuana opened my eyes, it helped me to see everything from a surprisingly clear perspective and find inner peace. I love the way I feel after smoking a bowl. I think it is an amazing drug, and I intend to continue using it a handful of times every year.

It isn’t addictive, because I don’t crave it. Although I enjoy the experience, I do not crave that either.

Hey admin, marijuana doesn’t make you dumber, it’s just that dumb people tend to do marijuana. Also, God is just as fake (if not more fake) or a high than drugs. If you need God to get through the day, fine. I won’t stop you, but don’t ask me to respect you. I don’t care if you don’t respect potheads, but don’t try to stop people who have made an educated choice about their marijuana/drug usage.

**** the health benefits (although I do think there are quite a few). In a “free” society, we should be able to make the informed choice of what we desire to ingest. I will never EVER do meth, or heroin, or even crack, because I know how dangerous they are, not because they are illegal. The fact that those drugs are illegal has not prevented me from coming in contact with them.

Even if we think that marijuana is bad, the answer is not criminalization, its education and rehabilitation.
