For those who suffer codependency from drug abusers, many 12 step programs have “Open Meetings,” where those close to addicts can share; there are also Al-Anon meetings for those with alcohol abusing loved ones. Society does recognize the problem, and for families the real shining answer is often drug addicts are able to quit. They just need help to do it.
Yes, drug abuse does effect everyone. However, many books in the past decade have pointed out both positive and negative effects of drug abuse on children of drug abusers, and even spouses. How does that work? Actually, negative consequences are far more common, but in the hearts and minds of children is the capacity to see good in the bad, to survive. After all, no one has had the perfect life! Drug abuse and addiction … does … affect everyone within society, within the family, and within major systems which fight the war on drugs. It comes not from a doctor or counselor, but from someone who experienced drug addiction for many years. There is a road to recovery and a lot of lives have been spared through the help of 12 step programs, family, friends and doctors.
Admin are you serious? people are questioning your ideas and you say things like “You guys just like drugs a lot and are casual users.” Who the **** are you to judge? as far as i am concerned, I smoke pot every day and will use psychedelics for my own experiences. You have no right to tell me what I am allowed to do to my own being/consciousness…. I understand that we do have a lot of addicts out there, but you know what? Companies pay literally millions of dollars the majority of which is returned as a tax rebate in the form of politcial donation to ensure that their interests are represented. I wonder if theyd prefer marijuana, which effectively renders 99% of their product dangerous chemical and overpriced relative to the natural organic alternative you can grow yourself stayed illegal. The fact is that marijuanas relative hemp posed an imminent threat to the paper pulp industry due to a new harvesting/processing innovation that would essentially render paper pulp obsolete because it was a much less effecient way to make paper (kind of like how manufacturing designer chemical drugs with dangerous and unknown health side effects is less efficient than using a natural plant that has never killed anyone). Lucky for him he also owned newspapers across the country and was a high ranking member of what wed know in todays terms as the DEA. In 1937 out of personal greed this man used lies and racism to demonize marijuana and make it illegal to eliminate hemp as a threat to his paper pulp industry. First he invented the term “marijuana” to scare people through demonization. No one knew what marijuana was or thought they had ever seen it even though people everywhere had been growing and using the plant. (George washington documents his own use, in times of war people were required to grow hemp because its fibre was so strong). Using his many newspapers he created a racial terror campaign saying that marijuana would make negroes and mexicans into murdering rapists and would make good white women want to have sex with them. Law was introduced making it illegal to possess marijuana without a tax stamp, which was never produced or made available.

You remind me of a friend of mine who was “too smart” to get sober. He was president of my brother’s high school class and failed out of school the first semester on a 4 year scholarship. We smoked a lot of pot together, but luckily “marijuana” wasn’t his drug of choice and he quit when he got married.
Now he just drinks beer all day instead. I think things would have turned out better if he would have not used any drugs.
