Parents Needing Help

parents upset 300x200 Parents Needing HelpThe parents need to beat this drug, of course! This isn’t meant to say quitting will be easy, or is the only necessary step. But quitting drugs is the first step and this step should be taken under the care of an addictionologist.  A lot of regular doctors do not have the background skills to successfully treat alcoholics and addicts. Quitting is not easy, but with professional help it can make the process much easier. If you don’t try to quit for yourself, then at least try for your children.  Remember that they are the ones suffering just as much as you are from this disease. In the long run you will have to ultimately want to stop for yourself, but any reason in the beginning is good enough. The old saying “Fake it until you make it” is really true in a lot of cases. Another thing to remember is not to “Think to much”. An addicts mind is a dangerous place in the beginning because of the strong obsession to use again and denial. Denial and substitution will be problematic for the parent trying to beat any drug. For instance, instead of smoking marijuana on a daily basis, a father or mother will resort to drinking more alcohol. They will deny having any problem, and then substitute one bad drug for another. This can be even more dangerous, as coming off any drug without some form of support outside the family is crucial.

The road back to reality does begin with the parent realizing the problem often isn’t a moral deficiency. Drug addiction can often be called a mental and physical disease, where you make one small mistake and it becomes a life damaging event. There is always hope for the children, and what children or teens grow up in perfect households? The fact is that in modern society drug abuse within any family is bound to occur. The answer is to ask for help.

Remember, the emotional damage to sons and daughters within the family cannot always be repaired, which makes both parents working together more important. There are meetings to help people with substance abuse problems, along with those who love the drug addict. Alcoholics Anonymous, a 12 step program of beating alcohol and drug abuse has  meetings everywhere. Most people are shocked when they realize how many meetings are within their community.  Meetings are held in local Churches and there are also some great club houses.

Friends and family should encourage an addicted person to attend these meetings. The support that is given freely by the members of AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) is amazing. The program absolutely works and nothing else compares to it.

A lot of regular doctors will also recommend medicinal marijuana. And you can go to them with any problems you have, due to patient confidentiality.

    Nicholas,

That is a really nice lie. These regular doctors you talk about must be the ones issuing the marijuana medical cards in California. We all know what a joke it is to get one of those. This is what REAL doctors think about marijuana:

Admin, are you also aware that study was done in 1987? Right when hardcore anti-drug President Reagan was in office?

Here’s a newer one for you:

Here’s another one with the benefits of medicinal marijuana:

Everything you can try citing has been debunked. Have fun trying though.

So are you saying that they are “fake” doctors? They both went to school, they both work in a doctors office. The cannabis card giving doctor isn’t all he does he’s a real doctor. But yea you’re information is wrong and no where near up to date. Have a few more drinks n00b.

  5. This website is full of lies.

The creator of this site has a vendetta against a plant. Not just any plant, A plant that we humans have been using since pre-history.

    Screw this website.

This site is pushing “reefer madness” style propaganda.

It is true that Cannabis can be psychologically addictive, but not physically. This has been scientifically proven. The “gateway theory” is also bunk. You can proclaim that these lies are true all you want but all you have to do is look at the comments to see that most people know the truth. You will undermine your ability to achieve your goal of deterring people from using drugs especially if you stick to your claim that cannabis has no medicinal value.

Are you funded by the DEA because Harry Anslinger couldn’t have written the propaganda better himself?

Prohibition does tremendous harm to society. You say that addiction is a disease yet you are OK with using the penal system to punish users. Sad really. Please research the effects of prohibition and then I’m sure you will see that the key is education not prohibition.

Again, I am very curious to know if you are funded by some DEA like agency because I have not seen propaganda of this magnitude in a while. You do realize that even the DEA is “toning it down” a bit propaganda wise because they are losing credibility fast. You are in the same boat.

    Have a nice day!

If you need professional help to quit smoking marijuana then you really have no will power. I managed to kick drinking soda/caffeine, and guess what science proves that caffeine is more addictive than marijuana. And guess what, even if it is easy to get a card in california, there are still 13 states that allow medical marijuana, and you can’t deny it’s medical use. As someone who has seen cancer patients on chemo and diseases like chron’s disease 1st hand, I have no doubt this plant can do amazing things for the sick. I had to quit smoking pot for quite a while due to personal problems I had to get taken care of, and after a year of marijuana use pretty much daily guess how long it took for me to quit? I beat it in 1 day. Good luck doing that with….well…anything else. Maybe say a prayer tonite and ask God why he decided to let this green herb grow naturally just about anywhere on earth, as you know Pot is the only “drug” that grows naturally from a seed, out of the ground, and then eventually forms buds during flowering All natural. I’m glad though you choose only to find the old-biased studies to prove your point, it really only proves my point that all people against marijuana are uneducated, and refuse to accept unbiased studies that prove you all otherwise.

I’m sick of people saying weed should be legal universally for medical reasons. There are plenty of drugs legal for medical reasons that are controlled outside of people using it medicinally. I do believe it should be legal both medically and recreationally, however stating that it’s medical benefits as a reason it should be legal for recreational use is a terrible argument. Also in most states outside of California (California’s medical marijuana is a joke, almost anyone can get it) that have medical weed legalized it takes a serious condition to be prescribed it. Should opiate based pain pills be legal for recreational use just because they have medical benefits? Hell no, they should be legal for recreational use because it’s a matter of personal freedom over what you can and can’t put in your own body. So come up with a better argument for legalizing marijuana than saying it has medical benefits. Heroin has medical benefits too, it’s the most powerful pain killer known to man, however should it be legal because of this? Just like with heroin’s weaker counterpart, opiate pills, it should be legal because the decision to use drugs should be up to the individual not society

    @Joe-1234

You really don’t know much about the nature of addiction or drugs in general do you? I want to start out by addressing your “fact” that marijuana is the only drug that grows from a seed out of the ground. Ever heard of datura (a delirient)? Peyote cactus (a psychedelic)? Morning glory (another psychedelic)? Phalaris grass (another psychedelic)? Kava? Tobacco? Or perhaps Poppies (opium)? Not to mention Salvia (psychedelic)? Some of those drugs are relatively safe, like morning glory, peyote or salvia. Other can kill your ass, like poppies, tobacco and datura. Just because it’s natural doesn’t make it safe and good for you

Also saying that someone has no willpower because that can’t quit drugs is ludicrous. Addiction is a psychological disorder that causes a person to crave having an altered mood or state of mind at all times. Being effected by it is like having OCD, bipolar, depression or ADHD. It’s something that takes control of your life and **** s**t up. Your average person can quit drugs easily, but an addict can’t control their drug use, whether it’s alcohol, marijuana, methamphetamine, MDMA, heroin or DMT, or even some DXM. It’s something a person needs outside help with.

You clearly need to do some research on drugs and drug addiction before making ridiculously wrong statements like your comment on here again
